The Export Promotion Council of handicrafts sponsored body under the Ministry of textile was established under Companies Act in the year 1986-87 and is a non-profit organization, with an object to promote, support, protect, maintain and increase the export of handicrafts. It is an apex body of handicrafts exporters for promotion of exports of Handicrafts from country and projecting India’s image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality of handicrafts goods & services and ensured various measures keeping in view of observance of international standards and specification. The Council has created necessary infrastructure as well as marketing and information facilities, which are availed both by the members-exporters and importers.
Apart from above, EPCH also arrange linkage of designers to the centre to help in develop new designs as prevalent in International markets and marketing linkage. The Handicraft export during the year 2022-23 was Rs. 30,019.24 Crores and US $ 3,728.47 Million.
In order to increase the visibility & connectivity with the member exporters in handicraft industry Council’s Eastern Regional Office organized the Interactive session with member exporters of Eastern Regional Office and Talk on Brand Building and Promotion of Handicraft product in International Market at Hotel The Peerless Inn on 1st July 2023.
Mr.O.P.Prahladka, the Eastern Regional Convenor EPCH graced the event along with Mrs. P.L.Sreedevi, Southern Regional Officer-EPCH, Mr. Hardeep Singh, Mentor and Consultant for MNC’s were present.
Mrs. P.L.Sreedevi, Southern Regional Officer-EPCH welcomed the Dignitaries the program started by the welcome address by the Regonal Officer P.L.Sreedevi and the Eastern Regional Convenor Mr.O.P.Prahladka addressed the member exporters. Mr.Hardeep Singh had a wonderful session regarding brand building and prominent industry leaders like Ms.Payal Nath, Mr.Lahoti, Mr.Sushil Kethan, Mr.Manish Gourisaria were also present and felicitated few brand leaders like Mr. Anurag Himatsingka, Mr. Arindam Chanda, Mr. Jitesh jain, Ms. Durba Saha, Mr. J.K. Daniel, Mr.Abhisek Paddar, Mr.Tarun Mallick, Mr. Pankaj Bubna, Ms. Bahita Ramesh & Mr.Talwar were present.
The highlight of the event is felicitation of the brand leaders of the industry by the Eastern Regional Convenor Mr.O.P.Prahladka and the participants interacted with the Convenor and discussed their issues facing in the industry and given many more suggestions how to improve the export. On the whole this interactive programme attended by a good number of participants and appreciated the gesture of the Council for organizing the programme which has been really an eye opener on many issues and the participants requested many more programmes like this by the Council.
