Launch of Smart Sukanya, A collaboration between Emami Foundation and Tech Mahindra Foundation

Emami Foundation and Tech Mahindra Foundation launched Smart Sukanya, a unique collaboration focused on skill development of women and youth.

Tech Mahindra Foundation, the corporate social responsibility arm of Tech Mahindra Limited and Emami Foundation, the CSR arm of FMCG company Emami Limited, are committed to bring high-quality skilling solutions to the underprivileged communities of Kolkata.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Chetan Kapoor, CEO, Tech Mahindra Foundation said, “We work extensively on the vision of ‘Empowerment through Education’ with two key focus areas – Education and Employability, with an increasing focus on women empowerment. Disability remains a key theme in our programs. Today we are extremely pleased to announce this partnership with Emami Foundation. There is a growing need to provide job-oriented, market-linked training for underprivileged youth and through this project we are reaffirming our commitment to make the youth of India skilled and self-reliant.

Mr. S.K., Director, Emami Limited Goenka said, “Emami is engaged in many other social activities as well as charity and philanthropic activities. Our vision is to promote education, fight hunger, provide medical relief and help combat chronic illness and today is a joyous occasion for us as we join hands with Tech Mahindra Foundation. We hope to create a remarkable collaboration by leveraging the strengths of our respective organizations to train underprivileged youth in job-oriented courses and facilitate their employment.

The Smart Sukanya program has been launched at 48B, Muktaram Babu Street in the heart of Kolkata city to enhance the employability skills of hundreds of young women and men in the city and help them gain meaningful employment in sectors such as retail, financial accounting and ITES. This collaboration with Emami Foundation is an extension of Tech Mahindra Foundation’s existing work in the city, supporting over 1000 youth and around 500 differently-abled children through various projects.
