CANARA BANK presents “DR. AMBEDKAR VIDYA JYOTHI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME” for Girl Students

Canara Bank is observing “CANARA BANK DR. AMBEDKAR VIDYA JYOTHI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME”  as a “Pan India Mega CSR Initiative” on the occasion of 78th Independence Day Celebrations.

“Canara Vidya Jyothi” scheme was launched as a tribute to CANARA BANK’s founder Sri Ammembal Subba Rao Pai, who propagated girls’ education as the basic need for meaningful development and to encourage education among girl-children from socially and economically backward communities, where school dropout has been high. The Scholarship scheme was launched during 2013-14 to extend scholarship to SC/ST meritorious girl students from Rural areas under CSR initiatives.

   Further, from 2015-16 it was extended to semi-urban and urban branches.

Total benefitted Students so far: 139742  Total Distributed Amount: Rs.64.00 Cr.

  On 14th Aug. afternoon at 21 Camac St. centre of CANARA BANK, officials of Canara Bank led by Sri Kalyan Mukherjee (GM, Circle Office, Kol.) and Krishna Kumar (Div. Mngr., CO, K) and Chief Guest Supriya Das (official of Govt. of WB) handed over Bank Pass Books for scholarship to about 25 girl students from various schools.

 The event on 14th Aug. was managed by Global Force Mgmt. Services Pvt. Ltd.
