Vigilant jawans of various battalions under South Bengal Frontier foiled several smuggling attempts on the international border of District North 24 Parganas of West Bengal and seized 490 bottles of Phensidyl, 30 kg Hilsa fish, 1700 units of Gomela cream and 260 Clop G cream. The total value of the seized material is about Rs 12,88,325/-.

According to the information, on September 11, the jawans of 102nd Battalion Border Outpost Ghojadanga took immediate action after receiving special intelligence about smugglers trying to smuggle Hilsa fish, at around 1200 hrs the jawans saw suspicious activity behind the international border line, on which the BSF jawans challenged them. However, the smugglers managed to flee to the Indian side taking advantage of the dense forest, banana orchards and clusters of houses leaving behind four plastic bags, which contained a total of 30 kg of Hilsa fish.

Besides, in other incidents on the same day, the jawans of Border Outpost Ghojadanga, 102nd Battalion seized 490 bottles of Phensidyl and the jawans of Border Outpost Hakimpur, 143rd Battalion seized 1700 bottles of Gomela Cream and 260 bottles of Clop G Cream.

The seized items were handed over to the concerned department for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier said that the BSF jawans are working day and night to prevent crimes like smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border and due to this the people involved in such crimes are being arrested. Their intentions are being foiled time and again, due to which the smugglers are facing a lot of difficulties. The officer further said that no smuggler with bad intentions will be spared.
