Expansion Plans of Ruby General Hospital

Ruby General Hospital was inaugurated on 15th April, 1995. After completing 30 years of dedicated service in Healthcare, which is almost reaching a milestone, CMD Dr. Kamal K. Datta has made significant announcements that marked a new chapter in the ongoing mission of providing quality care and service to all segments of society.
With a fullfilling journey of three decades, Ruby General Hospital is looking forward to a better and brighter future, while, consistently focusing on expanding and enhancing its services to facilitate and serve the community. Being a standalone hospital in Kolkata, Ruby General Hospital takes great pride in its  independence and commitment in continuing its mission of providing exceptional care to the people of Kolkata, Bengal and beyond as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) Hospital among all other private entities and chain of hospitals.
The hospital has been continuously evolving with time and widening its facilities to meet the requirements of the society. This facility currently encompasses a total of 18 floors spread across three buildings (7 + 8 + 3) in the same campus and covering an area of about 2 lakh square feet. There will be an expansion on the number of beds to 556 by the end of 2024. This will be an additional 200 new beds to the present 356 beds. There is also a further plan of adding another 200 beds in 2025, making the hospital the largest standalone Non Resident Indian (NRI) Hospital in Kolkata.
In a groundbreaking development for Eastern India, Ruby Cancer Center, a unit of Ruby General Hospital is introducing the Varian TrueBeam Linear Accelerator, Version 3.0 with most user friendly and advanced contouring system and Eclipse version 18 planning system. This is the first of its kind in Eastern India and we have a dedicated CT simulator along with this radiation machine for faster treatment. This technology will revolutionize cancer treatment by providing precise and effective care. With a tie up with various Corporates, Insurance Companies, State and Central Government Health Schemes, the cancer patients from all walks of life will be highly benefited.
Ruby General Hospital Blood Centre has also been officially inaugurated on 4th July and this new facility will enable the hospital and others to provide accessible safe blood and blood products for all. The centre has unmatched equipment and technology namely, the Archimedes machine and the Terumo Penpol Optia Apheresis Machine which is highest in class and has efficacy in harvesting of Single Donor Platelets (SDP), performing Plasma Pheresis and also in therapeutic procedures. Highest sensitivity test of Blood is possible namely, Neucleic Acid Amplification (NAT) which will be performed for Alpha level patient safety.
 In an endeavour to give back to the society, Ruby Cancer Centre has taken the initiative to launch three cancer care vehicles, equipped with medical support to facilitate the daily transportation of radiotherapy patients from the key locations of the city, namely, Esplanade, Bidhannagar and Garia. This service will ensure that the ongoing radiotherapy patients receive convenient and comfortable transportation to and from the hospital. Moreover, keeping in mind about global warming and the importance of sustainable practices, a special discount of 10% is being offered on all Out Patient Department (OPD) treatment costs to all those availing Metro Railway services. This initiative will support eco – friendly transportation and encourage one and all to avail the Kolkata Metro Services.
Dr. Kamal K Dutta, Chairman and Managing Director of Ruby General Hospital also mentioned about the importance of preventive oncology and how simple cancer screening investigations like Pap Smear, Mammogram, Low Dose CT scan of chest (LDCT), Colonoscopy and Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) can help in the early detection of cancer.
