BSF foils Silver Smuggling, seizes 5.9 kg Silver grains on India-Bangladesh border

Acting on the information of the BSF Intelligence Department, the jawans of Border Outpost Dayarampur of the 146th Battalion under the BSF South Bengal Frontier foiled the smuggling of silver on the India-Bangladesh border of Murshidabad district of West Bengal and seized 5.9 kg silver. The total estimated value of the seized silver is Rs 501500/-.

According to the information, on September 12, a special information was given by the BSF Intelligence Department to the jawans of Border Outpost Dayarampur about the possible smuggling of silver. On receiving the information, all the jawans and patrolling parties were alerted. Then at around 0855 hrs, the patrolling party found some items buried in a jute bush in the border area of Dayarampur. The jawans searched the area thoroughly and found 5.9 kg of silver grains.

The seized silver has been handed over to the Customs Department, Jalangi for further legal action.

The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier said that BSF is taking strict measures to stop smuggling on the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to this, people involved in such crimes have to face a lot of difficulties. The officer further said that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
