Celebrations of 2568th Holy Buddha Purnima by Bauddha Dharmankur Sabha

2568th Holy Buddha Purnima, International Vesak Day was celebrated with great zeal on 23rd May. It was organized by Bauddha Dharmankura Sabha of India with due dignity. The morning began auspiciously by hoisting the World Buddhist Flag. After that the disciples and followers performed bathing of the Buddha statue, collective prayer for world peace, Buddha Puja, distribution of payes to the pedestrians, distribution of fruits and food to the patients in the Medical College Hospital, wishing them a speedy recovery.In the afternoon, “Rabindra-Nazrul Paramparay” in memory of the two great poets of Bengal, were paid tribute in song and poetry. It was conducted by the famous Nazrul researcher & singer Dr. Dipa Das.

In the afternoon, a discussion meeting was held in the presence of distinguished guests. Amiya Kumar Samant, IPS, Former D.G. was present as the Chief Guest. Intelligence Branch, West Bengal.
Pranab Prakash, Regional Director (East), was present as a special guest.
India Tourism, Kolkata, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.

Professor Dr. Shaswati Mutsuddi, Head of the Dept. of Pali at the University of Calcutta, Dr. Parthasarathy Mukherjee, renowned physician as well as eminent social personality, Professor Subrata Sinha, Department of Bengali, St. Xavier’s College.
Ratanshree Mahathir, Hon. President of Bauddha Dharmankur Sabha, presided over the meeting.
The program started with Mangalacharan by Bhikshu Biswajit. Guests were welcomed by offering white Uttariya and garlands.
Amlendu Chowdhury, General Secretary of the meeting, delivered the welcome address.
Each guest’s high-profile talk enthralled the packed audience for two hours.
The event was moderated by Sumit Barua, Associate Secy.
The honourable guests unveiled a book compiled by Sumit Barua.
